Last Chance for Year End Donations

There are a few hours left to contribute to your favorite organizations, cause or program. With online donations making it even quicker and easier to do so, I urge you to take a moment to contribute.

NYCSubwayGirl donates a portion of performance contributions to organizations who help to make this world a better place.  I call them The Champions I Support.

Supporting with a gift of any amount goes a long way.

I hope you join me.

Giving Tuesday

Between Black Friday hijacking Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday pushing us to consume goods, the emphasis should be on giving. It's why I am getting on the bandwagon for #GivingTuesday.  We shouldn't need a day of the week to give, but it is true, it doesn't hurt to make an event out of giving to a cause or organization you believe in. If you are like me the year end comes pretty quick and organizations that depend on giving could use those funds now. The internet makes it quite simple (and safe) to go to your favorite website and give online.

NYCSubwayGirl donates a portion of performance contributions to organizations who help to make this world a better place.  I call them The Champions I Support.  Whether you give today on #GivingTuesday or not isn't the point, supporting with a gift of any size is.

I hope you join me.

Giving to others, Champions I support

It's the end of the year when orginazations are scrambling to get financial support for their efforts. Throughout the year I put aside a portion of my subway tips and donate to organizations I feel are doing amazing work locally, nationally and internationally.

Here is my wish list for my year end giving, what I call the Champions.

Please consider joining me.

Artists Against Fracking, Broadway Green Alliance, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Clearwater, Democracy Now, EarSay and Judith Sloan, Equine Advocates, Facing History Facing Ourselves, Global Zero, GrowNYC, Lower East Side Ecology Center,  One Billion Rising, Peace Talks Radio, Playing for Change, Road Recovery, Sing for Hope, V-Day

Year End Giving

I am sending best wishes to everyone during this Holiday Season. As 2012 comes to a close I divvy up my busking proceeds and donate a portion to organizations I feel are doing wonderful work. Personally I support organizations who are dedicated to arts and education, but also to those who create sustainable measures for our planet and the environment, and those who work hard for justice and equality.

There are a few days left before 2012 clicks forward to 2013. I have a section on my site where I list the Champions I support. I urge you to take a moment and join me in supporting what ever organizations you feel have worked hard so we can have a more beautiful, educated, sustainable, peaceful and truthful planet for all.

All the best for a Happy and Healthy New Year,

Cathy

Happy Holiday's

Wishing everyone a happy and festive Holiday.

Some years back while in seasonably warm Key West, Florida, I recorded a version of "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus," it was featured on an NPR affiliate radio program called "Do You Hear What I Hear? A Holiday Folk Tour" with Judy Collins hosting and produced by Paul Ingles of KUNM, Albuquerque, NM

Here's a free MP3 of I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, enjoy (and yes that's me whistling!) recorded at Private Ear Studio Key West, Dan Simpson engineer

As the end of the year approaches, I divvy up some of my subway earnings and make contributions to non-profit organizations I feel are making a difference in this world, like Peace Talks Radio, Playing For Change, Pete Seeger's Clearwater, or Eve Enslers V-Day to name a few.  I have a section on this site called The Champions I Support, with links. Maybe you'll consider joining me.
